In 2021, Coldplay captivated audiences with their announcement of a fresh single titled "Higher Power", set to be unveiled on 7 May. This much-anticipated release was accompanied by a unique video livestream beamed straight from the International Space Station. Chris Martin, in a heart-to-heart with Zane Lowe, shared the band's collaboration with the acclaimed Max Martin, revealing, "Max is the guiding force behind our current projects." Making waves, Coldplay was chosen as the opening spectacle for the 2021 Brit Awards, showcasing "Higher Power".

In a memorable act of 2021, Coldplay joined forces with Ed Sheeran, lighting up the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire. A digital treat awaited fans on 22 May 2021 with their performance at the iconic Glastonbury Festival, where they introduced "Human Heart", crafted alongside the R&B maestros, We Are King. The cinematic rendition of "Higher Power" by Dave Meyers made its grand YouTube premiere on 8 June, following a previous version enriched with CGI alien holography.

The much-awaited album, Music of the Spheres, was announced to grace the music world on 15 October 2021. Prior to this, fans were treated to "Coloratura" on 23 July 2021.

September brought another surprise: a collaboration with the global sensation, BTS, on a single named "My Universe". This track not only dominated the UK Singles Chart but also clinched the top spot on the US Billboard Hot 100. The synergy between the bands was further highlighted in a documentary released on BTS's official YouTube channel.

Music of the Spheres didn't disappoint, becoming a sensation in the UK and earning acclaim in the US. Coldplay's commitment to innovation was evident when they revealed their Music of the Spheres World Tour in October 2021. Starting from San José, Costa Rica, in March 2022, this tour is a testament to the band's environmental advocacy, with Chris Martin discussing the groundbreaking "kinetic flooring" and energy-generating bicycles to power their concerts.

Awards came beckoning as "Higher Power" earned a nomination at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. December 2021 brought news from Martin about Coldplay's ambition to produce three more albums by 2025, promising a blend of musical innovation and a return to their roots. The journey continued with a reimagined "Let Somebody Go" and a tribute to Kid Cudi with a cover of "Day 'n' Nite" in February 2022. Capping off their achievements, the band received three nominations at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, further solidifying their position in music history.
